Having Fun & Seeing Blessings!

So, it's taken some time, but I think my family is finally starting to ENJOY FHE!  It almost didn't happen this week because it felt like I was fighting everyone to get them in the family room.  I almost told my husband, "I'm going to go lie down and you can deal with it!"  But I knew that was exactly what the adversary wanted and I wasn't going to give in.  As soon as we started the spirit in my home changed.  My daughter was so excited to lead the music (we use the music player feature on the church website so we have piano and a choir singing with us!)  My little boy wanted to say the prayer.  And they both loved doing the activities on pgs. 35 & 41 of this month's issue of The Friend.  We even expanded them...

1)  Make footprints out of construction paper and make your own maze through the house with choices to make about healthy living.  It could lead to a picture of the temple or the scriptures where you can read about the blessings of keeping the Word of Wisdom. (Please excuse my son's blue nails and arm-it's been a painting week...well, actually he only painted once but once was enough!)

2) Fill a tub with healthy grains and beans.  Then hide other plastic foods or pictures of ways to live a healthy life.  My kids loved this and played in their for a good hour.
I love how the more we are learning about the gospel the more they want to read the friend and do these activities.  Tuesday morning they actually said "Let's do FHE!" :) Plus by using The Friends our activities are coinciding with what they are learning about in Primary.

For the next few days the activities are simple and self-explanatory, but great conversation starters.

"Matt & Mandy" Pg. 42- Just talk about honesty!  Such a good topic for any age!

"Family Picnic" Pg. 43- Color the page and find the items.  You could even go on a picnic too!

"Coloring Page" Pg. 46- A good one to color during Sacrament Meeting!  You could make several copies so they could color it more then once (or print off the internet.)

"Reflections" Pg. 44- This story inspired me to get out some of our old family albums.  Talk to your kids about who came before them and how they are like their ancestors.  You could even put some of these pictures on the wall.  That is my goal for this week.  I will post a picture when I do it! :)

I know that spending deliberate time with our children to teach the gospel will bring blessings of love in our home!  The church is true! Luv, Eva
